Why this photo matters...
Like with writing stories, I'm always most interested in capturing real people and what they're interested in. For a portrait assignment, I was tasked with photographing a family member.
My father is a huge fan of archery, and he has competed in archery competitions for as long as I can remember. With this assignment, I decided to snag a picture of him in his archery clothing with the top of his bow peeking into the shot.
I love how this photo shows his personality with his gentle smile, and it also shows a glimpse of his hobby.

Why this photo matters...
This photo went along with a story I did about a mother, Stacy Taylor, and son, Wyatt Taylor, dealing with the aftereffects of Wyatt's tragic motorcycle accident that left him with a severe traumatic brain injury.
Seeing Stacy smile with resilience months after Wyatt's accident was beautiful. I wanted to capture her looking out her window onto something bigger and brighter.
This photo helped me to see how sometimes visual media can tell a story that words cannot. While I'll always love writing the most, taking portraits is my favorite form of photography. Find the story behind this shot here.
Videography
Why this video matters...
This video combines two of my passions --- reading and journalism! I created this video for an honors class I participated in that was led by ABC News Live Prime anchor Linsey Davis.
I had the chance to spotlight a local chapter of the national Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, which provides free books to children from the ages of 1-5.
I'm really proud of my interview shots in this story, and I love the topic.
Why this video matters...
This reel features some of my best stand-ups, closes, and full multimedia video projects. Many of these clips come from an internship I did with the National FFA Convention. We were tasked with creating four full news packages over the span of five days, and I was so pleased with how I grew as a broadcast journalist!
